Glass Heart

I have a glass heart.

God gave me a glass heart

for all to see how much love I do have indeed.

I give my all to those who are in need.

I dare not part with my glass heart.

But it seems when you came into my life,

I felt I could give you half of my heart.

I felt weak to your love,

you were so soft and sweet almost like a dove,

that could do nothing but show love.

You said you would never break my heart,

that you would never part,

that you would forever love me from dusk till dark.

You told me you would stay true to your words

because promises are forever and love isn't cheap

but something forever to hold and keep.

Now here I sit, reading all your love letters,

full of broken promises,

full of false love.

Thinking back to all the lies you led. You have me weeping and thinking "How could I be so dumb?" Was I numb to your love?

I trusted you with my heart,

my glass heart which I would've never let you touch

if I knew from the start, that I would end up alone in the dark with a broken heart!

I trusted you with all my love! How dare a man not care for a woman who gave it her all, just to make him smile.

You should've made it worth your while,

to give some tender love to a woman

who has the heart of an innocent child.

One day you'll see

me living happily ever after,

living life in a new chapter full of laughter and joy.

Raising a baby boy,

to give it his all and to get back up after he falls. Remember "What goes around, comes around." Look over your shoulder and you'll see, somebody that looks just like me but acts just like you
